Schroeder Law Offices, PC is a water law firm serving municipal and agricultural clients in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and California along with some international consulting work for government contractors. Expanding its regional practice, Schroeder Law is seeking an associate attorney in its Reno, Nevada office.

Associate Responsibilities:

  • Representing clients directly under supervision of shareholder/partner
  • Prioritizing and diligently monitoring numerous and diverse client tasks for timely completion
  • Developing transactional water rights, demonstrating superb knowledge of options available to clients under the law, and proficiently completing transactional tasks
  • Litigating before administrative, state, and federal forums, often involving unique matters of first impression, including all phases of litigation from commencement to post-trial and appeals
  • Effectively delegating to support team and communicating related to ongoing client matters
  • Billing required hours on a daily basis, and providing complete narratives of all billed time to justify client invoices
  • Traveling to remote, rural areas as necessary or desired for client development and representation

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has 

  • Membership in the Nevada Bar. Licenses in Idaho, Washington, Utah, Oregon or California a plus
  • Connections and knowledge of the agriculture industry and/or management of local governments
  • Background or education in water law, hydrogeology, property, real estate, land use, agriculture, municipal/local government, and/or energy
  • State, federal, and/or administrative litigation experience
  • Transactional administrative agency and contracts experience
  • Proven written and oral advocacy skills
  • Proven networking skills including teaching, training, speaking, and writing
  • Competence working in an all-digital environment

Candidate Characteristics:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness and ability to bill a minimum of 1600 hours annually
  • Drive to participate in networking events and engage in rainmaking in addition to meeting billable hour requires
  • Comfort working in close, family-type, team environment
  • Desire to work at a small firm, business
  • Ability to “learn by doing” with minimum supervision
  • Capacity to learn and conform to firm policy standards
  • Adaptability to a variety of environments “on the road,” including travel to rural locations and working remotely
  • Strong verbal, communication, networking, and relationship-building skills
