Laura Schroeder will be speaking at the USCID conference this year being held in Sacramento, California. Laura's topic will be "Keeping Groundwater Irrigation: Oregon's Complex Groundwater Regulation." The 10th annual conference will provide a forum for water district staff, water agency staff, irrigation and drainage specialists, consultants, equipment suppliers and academics to share innovative solutions and learn from each other's experiences.

Attorney Sarah Liljefelt will be presenting at the OGWA Fall Convention in Redmond, OR. Sarah will provide a brief overview of the basic principles of Oregon water rights, followed by a discussion of some of the challenges that owners and drillers may face during a groundwater transfer, including surface water interference, interconnection when moving from a surface water point of diversion to a well, well repairs, and moving to new wells.

Topics will include "How Big Was the 2016/2017 Winter Snowpack," "Lessons Learned From Snowmageddon 2017," and "Flooding & Your Facilities: What is the Law." Also scheduled is a special presentation from an official from the California Department of Water Resources Security and Emergency Management Program that deals with the Oroville Dam crisis earlier this year.
