HR 5200October 18, 2002 PRESS RELEASE Last night in one of the last actions taken by the Senate before it recessed until after the election, the Senate passed House Bill, H.R. 5200 by unanimous consent. The bill will transfer title of the Humboldt Project from the United States to the Pershing County Water Conservation District located near Lovelock, Nevada. One of the most significant features of the Humboldt Project is Rye Patch Reservoir. Procedurally, the Senate took the House Bill, H.R. 5200, which had been adopted and sent over to the Senate one day earlier, and adopted it without amendments, rather than dealing with the Senate's own version, S. 2162, as reported out of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee a couple of weeks ago. The Pershing County Water Conservation District Manager, Bennie Hodges, compiled a team of Board Members, Mike Gottschalk, Bob Gibson, Tom Moura and others as well as Joe Findaro, a Washington lobbyist that specializes in natural resource legislation, and Laura Schroeder, an Oregon water attorney, to bring the bill to successful resolution.
