Employment

Schroeder Law Offices is seeking an experienced attorney for its Portland Office

Small and Growing

Schroeder Law Offices is a growing firm. The number of clients increases monthly. By any measure -- number of clients, size of cases or revenue -- we are growing.

As we have grown we have maintained and will maintain the small company atmosphere that allows us to respond quickly to the needs of our clients and that allows a relaxed yet vigorous environment for our employees.

Small though we are, our benefits emulate larger firms.

Reasonable Requirements

Attorneys and paralegals negotiate for reasonable billable hour goals. Financial rewards are available for billable time above this minimum as well as for bringing in new clients.

Partnership Track

For those ready to work hard, expand their skills, and grow with us we have a "partnership track." Candidates must have completed a certain minimum number of billable hours, have developed a significant client base, and have assumed a significant level of case management load with responsibility for the work product of other team members.

Benefits

Schroeder Law Offices creates and environment for good health, leisure activities, and an opportunity to reach personal and financial goals. The firm provides benefits not common in a small company. Exemplary among these are the following.

  • Health Insurance: Employees choose the program best suited for their needs from a variety of health plans. The firm provides basic coverage. Employees wishing more extensive coverage may elect the plan of their choice with a small payroll deduction. Amongst the many choices, employees may choose a "High Deductible Plan" and contribute, before tax, to an IRS-approved Health Savings Account (HSA).

  • Spending Plan: Employees may elect to spend pre-tax dollars on such things as health care, insurance premiums and day care expenses through the firm's cafeteria plan..

  • Retirement: Schroeder Law Offices has implemented a SIMPLE plan; the firm matches an employee's contribution to retirement up to a fixed sum. In addition to the firm contribution, employees may contribute up to $14,000 annually.

  • Personal Days: All employees are entitled to 5 days personal leave after 6 months and to 10 days per year thereafter.

  • Paid Holidays: Multnomah County court holidays are taken as firm holidays with the exception of Veteran's Day which is traded for the day after Thanksgiving.

  • Technology Benefit: All employees are given a Technology Allowance. They may use funds for such purposes as cell phone service, high speed internet, lap top computers, PDA's, or any other device or service that may be helpful to their work.

  • Training and Continuing Education: All employees, not just attorneys, are encouraged to continue their education. In addition to an Oregon State Bar season ticket purchased for firm use, the firm provides a Continuing Education allowance of $500 per employee per year. This amount may be applied to approved programs, associated travel expenses or membership dues in related professional organizations. If special circumstances warrant, the limit may be exceeded on an individual basis. Occasionally, the firm may grant scholarships. The firm uses the mentoring system for in-house training.

  • Miscellaneous Benefits: Employee requests for flexible time to meet family responsibilities, personal goals, or education are respected and satisfied whenever possible.
